KUALA LUMPUR: Telekom Malaysia is offering its streamyx GradPack package, which targets college and university students, until Dec 31.

Subscribers will enjoy broadband service at a lower rate, as well as receive some free goodies, according to the telecommunications giant.

GradPack offers two Internet service packages � 384Kbps (kilobits per second) for RM50 a month or 1Mbps (megabit per second) for RM100 monthly.

The students who subscribe will get a free modem, and a streamyx Zone ID which grants them wireless access at more than 1,300 hotspots nationwide.

TM is also waiving its RM75 activation and RM88 installation fees for GradPack users.

Also, subscribers of the 1Mbps package will get access to music portal Hypptunes, video service HyppTV and the Rose Online Evolution massively multiplayer online role-playing game for three months.

In addition to that, they will get a TM�Manchester United special-edition T-shirt for free.

Students who want to subscribe to GradPack must present their student ID at any TMpoint, TMpoint Authorised Dealership (TAD) outlet, or TM authorised reseller nationwide.

If you are suffering from your ADSL Net getting disconnected in 5 - 10 minutes after connecting and then nothing works then this is the solution for you. Many people suffer from the problem. After a few minutes of their connecting to Internet, a weird Win32 Service error shows up and then you can neither disconnect Internet nor can you reconnect it. All you can do is just restart the machine and then go through this process all over again and again.

Microsoft did provide patches for the same later but by then the problem was resolved by the experts. Also those people who do not have fast Internet cannot use those patches. So is there a solution for it without downloading the patches and just tweaking some settings in Windows XP. Fortunately the answer is yes. There are just 2 changes that you need to make. They are described in detail below:

First of all comes system security. So when you start Registry Editor (method is shown below) take a backup of the Registry as this is one of the core components of your Windows Installation. Backing up registry would help you to restore the changes you will make and would save you from a lot of headache later on. To create a backup of registry, navigate to File and click on Export. This will create a backup of your registry which can be restored again.

Click on Start button in the taskbar and navigate to Run. Type "regedit" without quotes in it and press enter. Now on the left panel, navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Expand it and navigate to SYSTEM. Then navigate to CurrentControlSet. In it expand NetBT. Navigate to Parameters. Now in the right panel locate TransportBindName. Just double click it and delete the default value which currently is Devices.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> System --> CurrentControlSet --> NetBT --> Parameters --> TransportBindName

Now navigate again to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. In it locate Softwares. Now go to Microsoft and expand it. Locate Ole in it. Now in the right panel just locate the value EnableDCOM. The default value in would be Y. Double click it and make the default value N. Now just close Registry Editor and restart the machine. Connect to Internet and voila the net now no longer gets disconnected.

You could also have changed the values of NetBIOS but generally changing the values of these two parameters would eliminate the problem for all. You would not be required to change those values.

That's a great question! And one that is kind of difficult to answer, since the letters W-I-I do not really represent individual words. Like the good old U-S-A stands for United States of America, it's not the same with Wii. But what does Wii stand for?

When you first take a look at the word, it's uncertain just how it's pronounced, but it's simple enough, just like "we". But how did Nintendo decide on the name? Well Wii was not even a word until April 27, 2006. That's when Nintendo changed the name of its Seventh Generation gaming platform from its project name of Revolution.

The proper name Wii, according to Nintendo, is simply Wii and NOT Nintendo Wii. They are very clear on that. And that's huge because this is the very first product they have marketed outside of Japan that does not carry the Nintendo brand name. While you will hear people refer to more than one Wii as "Wii's", Nintendo makes clear that the plural is actually Wii Systems or Consoles or Games. The word Wii is not used in a plural form but only the object it describes.

But what does Wii stand for? Nintendo's spelling of "Wii" with two lower-case "i" characters is meant to resemble two people standing side by side, representing players gathering together, as well as to represent the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. I called the local pest control place and they sent a representative to remove the dead skunk. The man said to me he had retrieved the dead skunk and the charge was $100.00 which I gladly paid to be able to live in my home and breathe.

RIPPED OFF:

That is not the end of this story. One week later on Mothers Day I woke once again to this horrific smell this time 10 times worse. Of course it was a weekend and holiday so I could not call the same company that had been out seven days ago.

I made several phone calls until I found a man that was willing to come out to my home on a holiday and remove the skunk.

He was a wonderful man who immediately bent over and entered the world of animal life and whatever habitats under my mobile home. He removed the dead skunk and called me out to see it. I had already explained about the other visit from the other company.

THIS IS WHAT HE TOLD ME:

This is the same skunk that was supposed to have been removed seven days prior. The man was either to lazy or thought he would run some kind of scam by being called back and get paid twice for removing the same animal. All he did was squirt some kind of chemical under my house to mask the odor.

He showed me the animal and I watched as he placed it inside his truck. He charged me $150.00 and drove off.

MIRACLES DO HAPPEN:

I received a telephone call from this man about an hour later. He told me he was ripping up my check because he felt that I had been ripped off and he was ripping me off a second time. taking payment.

I argued with him to please cash the check I was grateful for him taking his time and coming out to my house and help me.

In the end he ripped up the check. I thank him from the bottom of my heart.

PEST CONTROL COMPANY:

On Monday morning I called the Pest Control Company. I spoke to the lady in charge. She said the paperwork stated that the animal had been left and not removed.

Now I ask you, why would I lie about something like this. Anyway, the bottom line is I should have taken the extra step to make sure the animal was indeed removed. Also I had never received any paperwork from this representative of the company who supposedly removed the dead skunk.

This all happened a couple of years ago when the area I was living in was alive with fires. The animals were running for their lives and ended up dead under numerous mobile homes.

The city will send animal control to removed dead animals off the city streets or freeways but they do not enter private dwellings.

The reason I have written this story is for you the mobile home owner to be aware of what lurks beneath your mobile home.

IMPORTANT BULLETIN:

Now that I have your attention I would like to discuss something as a Mobile Home Owner is now crucial for all Mobile Home Owners that live in Parks.

Our State Legislatures are now reviewing the facts and fictions on mobile home parks.

We want our State Legislatures who represent us the voters to know what the facts are.

(1) Gouging rent increases. Rent increases any amount,or time. We are truly at the mercy of the Park owners.

(2) We want a sealing or freezing on the rent.

(3) Many Mobile Home Owners are now abandoning their homes and losing their money and home.

(4) If you move and leave your mobile home you still have to Speedometer Test rent space.

(5) We would like the option to be able to purchase the park for ourselves. Who better to run and manage our Mobile Home Park but the people who live in it.

Do you regularly need to correct the time on your PC? The answer is probably "Yes!". This is because computers have very poor time-keeping hardware. Often, the system clock in a regular PC can drift by minutes each day. However, help is at hand. It is very easy to synchronise the time on your Microsoft Windows computer with one of the most accurate clocks in the world. This article describes how to configure your Windows system to synchronise it's internal system time with an Internet based 'atomic time' reference.

PC's utilise an internal hardware real-time clock to maintain time. Generally, sms from pc hardware clock circuit utilises very low-cost components. This results in poor time-keeping performance. This client can easily be used to synchronise to an Internet or locally based NTP server. The client is configured from the time and date properties applet in the control panel, or by double clicking on the time in the system tray. One of the time properties tabs is labelled 'Internet time'. On this tab is a field called "Server" which accepts either the IP address or domain name of a NTP time server. Click the "Update Now" button and Windows will attempt to synchronise with the selected time reference. Ensure that the "Automatically Synchronise with an Internet Time Source" option is ticked and Windows will periodically update time from the reference automatically, thus keeping your system clock accurate.

If synchronisation fails then ensure that the supplied IP address or domain name of the NTP server is correct. Alternatively, it may be your firewall that is preventing communication with the time server. NTP operates on UDP port 123, so you must ensure that this port is left open on your firewall. The Windows firewall can be accessed from the Control Panel. To open NTP port 123, open the Windows Security Centre and select 'Manage Security Settings for Windows Firewall'. From the Windows Firewall applet select the 'Exceptions' tab. Click 'Add Port' to add an exception to the firewall. Enter a name for the exception, such as 'NTP port', and port number '123' and check UDP. Click OK to accept the settings. If you have a separate combined firewall and ADSL router, you may need to refer to your manufacturers documentation to find out how to open a port on the firewall.

To conclude, most computers keep extremely poor time. For many applications that rely on accurate time stamps, this can be entirely unacceptable. However, by utilising the Network Time Protocol, everyone can ensure that their computers system time is kept in sync with the most accurate clock in the world!
